Description

Fresh Water Harpacticoid Copepods are great food for new born mouth Brooding Betta species and live bearer fry. Adults are about 1/2 the size of newly hatched BBS and look like micro-shrimp under the Microscope. They can be cultured in a 2-5 gal.plastic container with a small sponge filter bubbling VERY slow & a few plants, A Golfball of Chrismas Moss W/ float& sm. handful of Pellia which supplies foraging surfaces & helps Denitrate the culture is included in this Auction with the Starter culture of about 100 copepods. Harvesting is done quite easily by removing a clump of the moss & swishing it in a sm. bowl of clean water which is then added to the fry tank or they can be siphoned out of the culture tank into a fine mesh net. They reproduce best feeding on nanochloropsis algae(6-8oz.included) but I will supply a free 1 Oz. Jar w/Micro-Spoon of powdered food that has high levels of Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, and natural beta carotenes which they do quite well on. You only feed sm. amt.s of the food every 1-2 days to prevent overfeeding. They will also feed on any naturaly occuring yeasts & bacterias in the aquarium like daphnia do, but they are more nutritious for the fry when fed Algaes AND the Powdered Food I will supply. They look like tiny tan to orange hopping fleas when they swim and if you put enough of them in the tank with the baby bettas you may not have to hatch BBS depending on the # & size of the fry. I have raised alot of Enisae Betta babies on nothing but these, from 1st day they where spit out by the Daddy to about .5" size at which time they started taking the larger golden pearls. PRIORITY SHIPPING in med. Styro Lined Box is 12.00 PAYPAL is prefered method of payment ,but I will accept (USPS) money Orders too.
