Auction
With this auction you get established culture, food, and new medium for numerous future cultures.
1. One deli container of established white worm & springtail culture. Read below about this culture.
2. Food.
3. The remainder of the medium-sized USPS box filled with my special medium. Its my personal blend thats ph adjusted and sodium reduced.

This culture is a must for the serious hobbyist. White worms are very high in fat making them excellent for conditioning and breeding. Springtails are also very nutritious and extremely prolific.

Guarantee
Live delivery is guaranteed only if someone is home and receives the package. You will be notified of the ship date, and the package typically shows up two to three days later.

If you are unsuccessful at starting the culture, within one month, I will replace the worms/springtails if you pay shipping of $6.00or if you order something different Ill include it at no additional cost.

Culturing
Container: Sandwich and shoe-box containers work great.

Medium: Most potting soils, WalMart worm bedding, coco fiber, or peat moss. Keep moist but not wet.

Food: Rice, beans, soggy breads, cereals, baby food, oatmeal, fish food, baked potato, leftovers, etc.

Temp: A lot of literature says to keep this culture under 65 degrees or the worms stop reproducing. Understand it doesnt always need to stay under 65degrees. In the summer my cultures go above that temperature but at night the temperature falls and the worms reproduce. Simply keeping this culture in a cool place in your house is usually good enough in most states. In really hot states adding a frozen water bottle during the hottest days will suffice in keeping the temperature down.

Why do I culture worms and springtails together? Both are so productive I can feed an entire fishroom from just one sweater box of this culture and barely put a dent in it. Neither one of them bothers the other as they are only sharing food and space, and I dont care what fills up the space because I want that space full of something to feed my fish. I culture springtails in all my worm cultures.

Springtails:
Springtails are very easy to culture, highly nutritious, and productive like you wont believe. I feed them to everything up to medium sized fish. They are a bit tiny, about the size of a gnat, but even my angelfish love eating them. Springtails are one of my fishes favorite foods. Fish love picking at them as they float on the surface.

White worms:
White worms are high in fat content which makes them perfect for conditioning and breeding.

To harvest half-fill a shoebox container with water and raise it on one end. On the high end I put a chunk of medium heavy with worms and/or springtails. The worms wiggle themselves free of their medium, and the springtails float to the surface. I suck the worms out with airline tubing, and net the springtails off the surface.

Both of these critters are very easy and highly productive.
