Description

This sale is for a quarter sized portion of microfex worms. Also known as dero worms. It also includes a starter of Daphnia Magna, and free shipping.

Dero's are completely aquatic worms about the width of a human hair, and up to 1.5 inches long. They live in a colony ball resembling a small pompom with one end waiving out of the colony to breathe. Daphnia are filter feeders and swim freely in the water column, and are about the size of a sesame seed at maturity. The daphnia drop live babies about the size of GSL strain of BBS, and are very prolific. Both make excellent live foods for both fry and adults.

Since they are all aquatic, they can not drown and foul the water, so overfeeding is not a problem. Constant full bellies means maximum growth. Also, they're very convenient for weekends away during the critical fry stages, since you can just drop a couple days worth of worms in, and let them feed themselves.

I use D. Magna, as they are hardier than the other daphnia, but if you already culture other daph/pulex/etc you can use them just as easily. Alternatives are not available from me, since I just keep magna.

The daphnia are the trick to making this culture work, as they live in a symbiotic relationship with the worms. You feed the worms, which would if left untreated, foul their water and die. But, the daphnia are filter feeders and eat the waste from the worms keeping their water clean for both of them, while getting a free meal.

Raising this culture is pretty simple. You just need a gallon sized container, aged tank water, and food. They are omnivores and will eat flake, pellets, bulk fish food, etc. I find Algae wafers work best for me, but really you can use anything. No special heat, light, aeration, or filtration required. I will send a faq/instructions to anyone that buys these from me.

This listing includes shipping, and I take my customer satisfaction seriously, as you can see from my feedback, so you can have confidence in your purchase.

I ship on the monday or tuesday after payment clears to avoid having packages stuck in delivery over the weekend. Delivery is 2-3 day shipping, and after sending, you'll receive tracking info so you'll know when to expect it.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I don't sell in smaller portions, as smaller portions have lower success rates, and I'd prefer that they just work for you. Thanks for looking.
