You will be getting between 500 and 1000 Daphnia magna ( approximately, impossible to give you an *exact* number since I can't count them one by one) and a special powder food I "designed" that will *not* foul your culture when used as directed (unlike yeast). This food puts your Daphnia in super growth and reproduction mode and you can keep you culture alive indefinitely as I have. This food will get you started. You can get more food from me if you like how it grows your culture, or you can use your own powder food.

I do NOT recommend green water as it does not provide the same growth rates and many algae found in green water are actually not or very hard to digest for Daphnia and Moina.

This strain of Daphnia magna can become extremely large. Some individuals can literally become giants. Cichlids and medium to larger sized fish love them. (For small fish see my Moina auction). It's a strain that has been in the hobby for a very long time and I believe some call them "Red Russian Daphnia." If you treat them right they simply don't crash. I have had this species going for several years now and they are incredibly productive and just don't crash (of course if you overfeed *any* culture can crash..these guys aren't "superdaphnia" that can take any abuse.

BONUS: As a bonus, you will also get some tiny *non-predatory*, copepods that I am culturing together with my Daphnia magna. You don't have to do anything special for them as they will just grow alongside the Daphnia. Their larvae are *even smaller* than Moina babies and fish *love* them. You can see the larvae only under the microscope. They are literally in every drop of water from my culture. Once your culture matures, all you have to do is just take some water from your culture and feed your baby fish, as every drop of water is going to have all kinds of sizes of Daphnia babies and copepods.

My experience has been that the small "flat rate" priority mail boxes that other sellers still keep using to offer "$4.95 Shipping" get mishandled all to easily by USPS and all animals die due to a leak (happened to me, too!). I can combine shipping for additiona purchases for another $3.00 shipping, in addition to the cost of the item. My guarantee covers both the animals *and* shipping. **I do NOT guarantee live arrival to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico!!** Please make sure that package does NOT sit out in the sun or a super hot mailbox as the animals *will* die.
