Description

You will be getting between 500 and 1000 MOINA (impossible to give you an exact number) and a special powder food I "designed" that will *not* foul your culture when used as directed (unlike yeast). This food puts your Moina in super growth and reproduction mode and you can keep you culture alive indefinitely as I have. This food will get you started. You can get more food from me if you like how it grows your culture, or you can use your own powder food.

I do NOT recommend green water as it does not provide the same growth rates and many algae found in green water are actually not or very hard to digest for Daphnia and Moina.

This strain of "Moina" is the smallest I have ever seen. I did not purchase it from anyone but "cultivated" it from one of my outside shrimp tanks (they "showed up" one day). So, it could be one of many small daphnid species such as Moina, Ceriodaphnia, Bosmina...etc.. Whatever they are, they are not only the smallest of their kind I have ever seen but also appear to be the "softest" of their kind. I have seen many baby fish spit out live food that is "too hard" (i.e. has a hard shell), but everything goes for these guys. Their babies are so tiny you cannot see them (or barely see them if you have really, really good eyes)! I have had this species going for over a year now and I can guarantee you that they are the most productive small daphnid ("Moina") species I have ever had the pleasure to breed. BONUS: As a bonus, you will also get some tiny, *non-predatory* copepods that I am culturing together with my Moina (they will automatically "hitchhike" in the same bag). You don't have to do anything special for them as they will just grow alongside the Moina. Their larvae are *even smaller* than the Moina larvae and fish *love* them. You can see the larvae only under the microscope. They are literally in every drop of water from my culture. Once your culture matures, all you have to do is just take some water from your culture and feed your baby fish, as every drop of water is going to have all kinds of sizes of Moina and copepods.
