Here is what I was looking for years ago and could never find!

A complete starter kit for culturing Moina. This kit will include a bag of LIVE Moina, a packet of LIVE yeast, and a bag of LIVE "green-water" microalgae.

This is our Moina culture kit. It is essentially the same as our regular daphnia kit. If you have already looked at our daphnia kit you will not notice a difference in our listing other than this small blurb, and the word "daphnia" is replaced with "moina" where appropiate. Moina is a great fry/fish food for all the same reasons Daphnia is. It is however much smaller. The babies are called neonates Try to buy these online and you will spend $100's for just a few dozen. Google search "moina neonates" and see for yourself. *GROW YOUR OWN* with our kit. Neonates are smaller than freshly hatched baby brine shrimp by about 100 um. This makes them even more desirable to fry. Adult Moina are just a bit bigger than baby daphnia. The pictures are of actual daphnia, not Moina. Moina is very small and I would have to blow up the picture for you to see it. It would then end up looking just like the pictures we already have. You just need to understand that the Moina is much smaller than the Daphnia pictured.

Moina is a great choice for feeding fish. A decently high protein food, that gut loads itself with veggies (green-water). How can that be bad for your fish? It can't! So many varieties of fish will greedily devour these little guys. The best part is, because of their different life stages (in size) they are a excellent food option for both young fry and adults.

You will need to find a few things yourself, unless you really want me to sell them to you, and charge you for shipping to boot! Items you should have on hand for this kit, would be an empty 2 or 3 liter soda bottle or two, a larger vessel like a 5 gal bucket or a spare aquarium (they are fun to watch, kids love them) and a fine mesh net, but coffee filters work too. How many 2 or 3 liter bottles and how many buckets you need will depend on the amount of Moina you plan on producing, but you only need one kit to get it all going. As its completely scalable and self reproducing. I use a single 5 gal bucket to provide feed my fish. I use separate 5 gal bucket to produce my culture kits to avoid the possibility of cross contamination if one of my tanks were to encounter any pests. You may want to consider an air pump, or just some extra airline hose, some splitters and control valves. If you use an air pump you won't use much pressure anyway. I would doubt you'd notice the difference if you tapped into another airline...anyway, this is all explained very simply in the "How To" guide.
