Description

*The HydroSponge Pro is the newest product line among our family. The Hydro-Sponge Pro, like the Hydro-Sponge, is made in all the same sizes but unlike the Hydro-Sponge line it uses reticulated foam. (The sponge size is a 4 1/2 in high x 5 3/4 in dia. coarse sponge and is for aquariums up to 125 gal)This gives the sponge itself almost double the efficiency as compared to the Hydro-Sponge. The Hydro-Sponge Pro can use higher flow rates when using a power head without clogging the filter. Great for breeders and hatcheries, easier and faster to clean and lasts longer as it is more durable. This filter provides both mechanical and biological filtration. Aerobic bacteria colonize the sponge, providing a bacterial substrate to facilitate the nitrogen cycle. Additionally, the Hydro-Sponge Pro traps larger waste particles, mechanically cleaning the water. A Weighted base allows for easy placement while preventing drifting. *Can be used in the vertical or horizontal position. Use with an air pump or attach a powerhead to the included one inch diameter lift tube to suit your filtration needs *Extra sponges can be purchased and kept in the aquarium for quick bio-cycling of new aquariums, hospital tanks, or replacement of the old sponge when worn out *Excels as a small tank or bowl filter, especially for bettas which have fins that can get easily trapped in HOB or other filter intakes. *Excels as a breeding filter, as baby (fry) are not trapped by sponge filters. *Great Discus filter, angelfish filter, hospital filter, or back up filter.
