Description

You are buying five brand new fish spawning beds. The spawning beds are 3 1/4" in diameter and 4" tall.

I use these spawning beds to breed medaka Japanese rice fish. They can also be used to breed other egg laying species of aquarium fish like killifish.

In Japan, medaka are traditionally raised in clay pots with floating plants like water hyacinth. Japanese rice fish lay their eggs on the roots of the plants. These breeding beds are finely textured and give your fish an attractive place to lay their eggs.

The foam ring keeps the spawning beds upright so your fish can lay eggs on them. The foam is UV resistant and is tough enough to be left outside in the sun. I have several of these breeding beds in my medaka pond outside. The foam didn't get brittle after months of brutal sun and 100 degree weather.

I make all these spawning beds individually by hand.
