They are now dried.... The 2018 crop of alder cones are dry on the tree.They're plenty potent,not off the ground and grown out in remote woodland away from chemical contamination. They have the ability to lower pH,make black water, and release at least 2 mild antimicrobial agents, and helpful tannins. Aquarium enthusiasts use them for valuable decorative shrimps,protect fish eggs,and adjusting water for breeding of many types of fishes.
