Welcome to Klassic Hobbies!

About me:
Before I was able to really walk on my own, my dad put a fishing pole in my hand and took me fishing. I spent hours in and around my local rivers and ponds discovering what sorts of fish lived there by trial and error. I was hooked! As I grew older, my dad purchased two fish tanks to set up in our basement. He managed to find a 125 gallon and a 75 gallon tank for cheap. Now I could see fish swimming around, instead of flailing around on the end of my line. One day while we were watching the generic pet store fish swim around, he told me about one of his grade school science teachers who bred killifish. It blew my mind that I could not only keep these fish, but also have them spawn and raise their fry. We added another dozen aquariums to the basement thanks to Craigslist, and discovered the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association. My dad acquired some angelfish, and I purchased my first African cichlids which were some Sunshine Peacocks. This interest quickly developed into a passion for the hobby through my middle school and high school years, and I began to attend swap meets to sell the fish we had been breeding. After this brief hiatus, my dad and I decided to get back into the hobby again in January 2020. We converted a mere 150sf room in my basement into my fishroom, and he has reestablished several tanks as well. As of now my focus is on African cichlids, Angelfish and plecos. We keep fish that we find interesting, simple as that.

Here on Aquabid:
My goal here on Aquabid is to provide you with healthy and happy fish. I want you to feel confident placing your bids, that you are bidding with certainty on what you are buying and where it is coming from. I have no intention of listing anything other than $1 auctions here. Having worked at a real auction house, no reserve auctions are the most exciting and rewarding to both buyer and seller. At the close of my auctions, I will contact you as soon as possible to finalize the sale. Payment will be made via PayPal. Once received, I will ship out fish on Monday mornings. Since I am still new to shipping, I am trying to play around with different carriers to provide the cheapest and most reliable transportation of your purchase. Even though I am new to shipping, I believe I am packaging fish in such a way they could survive for several additional days. This proved true when my very first shipment of fish took almost 4 days to travel 250 miles with 2 day shipping, but all fish arrived alive. All fish will be triple bagged with oxygen and Prime, then packed snuggly into a Styrofoam lined box. Extreme weather will be considered, and provisions made as needed. In the unfortunate case your fish are DOA, please reach out to me via email within 1 hour of the delivery time. Your email should contain CLEAR photos of the dead fish still in the unopened bag. A video would be even more definite for me. I try to be as responsive as possible and will be watching for the delivery. I want to work with you to replace your fish if there is a DOA. I simply ask for you to cover the shipping charges for replacements, or I will refund the cost of the fish if there are none to replace them. Please dont hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. Whether it is about shipping or you simply want to know more about the fish keeping, I will dedicate my time to answer your questions thoroughly. Thanks for reading, and happy bidding!
