STOCKY ANTHIAS small

ANTHIAS STOCKY SMALL Pseudanthias hypselosoma Anthias Stocky Common Names: Pink Basslet Description: The Anthias Stocky originates from Australia, Fiji, and Vanuatu. As with other fish in the Anthias group, anthias stocky are hermaphrodites. When a male fish is not detected in the aquarium, the largest female will often morph to take its place. The Anthias Stocky is a broader and shorter than other fish in the Anthias group. There is a difference in the colorization between males and females. Male Anthias Stocky has an orange back with yellow lines, and ivory underside. Females are mainly pink with a slightly forked shape tail with reddish tips on lobes. Recommended Tank Size: As with other fish in the Anthias group, Anthias Stocky is best kept in a tank of at least 125 gallons. It is recommended that there is one male fish for up to ten female fish. They will stay in the middle of the aquarium, but it is important to leave adequate room for the fish to swim and roam as they please. The aquarium also needs to have live rocks and caves for hiding places to mimic the wild. Anthias Stocky require a stable aquarium for long-term success. Food and Diet: The Anthias Stocky fish have the same diet as other fish in the Anthias group. Anthias Stocky is fed zooplankton and floating filamentous algae. In aquariums these fish needs to be fed a varied diet. It is important to note that they have small mouths and need to be fed small food. Acceptable food to feed them are mysis shrimps, vitamin enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped sea food. It is recommended as with other fish in the Anthias group be fed at least 3 times a day. Level of Care: Moderate Reef Compatibility: Aquarium Compatibility, Reef and Coral Safe online fish
Anthias belong to the family Serranidae, and make up the subfamily Anthiinae. These fish are commonly seen in photos of the reef in vast schools of pink, orange, yellow, or a combination of those colors. Like some others in the fish world, anthias are hermaphroditic. They are all born female and when the dominant male of the harem is gone, one of the females will usually become a male. This usually leads to trouble with the other subdominant males if any are present. In a small aquarium, this could be a problem. Otherwise, anthias are a peaceful fish and they can be found in every tropical ocean in the world. Check out Size Chart Tab below for size descriptions:

"Live arrival" is defined by Bluegrass Aquatics as follows: upon opening the box and inspecting your new arrivals, the fish are all swimming and appear to be in good order. The digital pictures of your DOA fish should be taken while the fish is in the unopened bag or with the tails clip off if discovered after opening the bag. We also encourage you to call or email us once you receive your fish to confirm their safe arrival within 2 hours, particularly if any abnormal conditions or extreme stress of the fish are involved. In the case of a DOA of a guaranteed fish, a credit will be issued. We do not refund the cash value of the fish or the cost of shipping. In the event of total loss (80% or more) of a FedEx overnight shipment, a new order will be shipped at no cost to the customer or a credit for the total order including the shipping cost will be credit to the next order.
