Use of Antibiotics in Ornamental Fish Aquaculture Metronidazole/Flagyl, A Potent Anti-Protozoal

DESCRIPTION: Exerts a bactericidal action on gram positive and some gram negative bacteria. Useful for control of some common bacterial fish diseases including Aeromonas and Psuedomonas Genera and Mysobacterial group (gill diseases, Chondrococcus). effective and safe treatment for several protozoan and anaerobic bacterial diseases of fish (Cryptocaryon, Hexamita, Ichthyophthirius). It does not adversely affect the filter bed and is easily removed with carbon. There is little danger of overdosing. Packaged in moisture-resistant resealable zip-lock container. DIRECTIONS: One level scoop for every 2 1/2 gallons of tank water. 1/4 teaspoonful per 20 gallons. 25 grams treats approx. 400 gallons of tank water. Treat every 24 hours with a 25% water change before each treatment. Treat for 10 days. To mix in food for internal hexamita: Use 2 teaspoons per pound of food. Use frozen food. Thaw food, mix in powder. Then put food in a zip lock back and lay flat in the freezer until frozen. Feed once a day for 10 days. When possible, mix antibiotics with fresh or frozen fish food for direct ingestion to avoid contamination of tank and other organisms. Discontinue treatment with this medication if no improvement is noted within 5 days. To remove harmless slight yellow color of aquarium water, change 20% of water and use activated charcoal filter until clear. CAUTIONS: For aquarium and ornamental fish only. Not for human consumption. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep in a closed container and in a cool dry location. Do not use with fish intended for use as food. Not safe for invertebrates.
