Up for auction are ten juvenile Pygmy Sunfish, Elassoma okefenokee. These are wild caught fish, they are just approaching breeding age, they are small and have lots of growing to do but the sexes are easy to tell and the males are coloring up. I am keeping these in mostly RO water with a fraction of hard tap water. I am feeding these live newly hatched brine shrimp. Please do not buy these if you are not well versed in live foods. The picture below depicts ADULT fish from the population that these fish originated from. The top picture shows normal coloration for females and males when not sexually active when in a proper environment. The bottom picture shows a male in breeding color, something they do most of the time if fed properly and given adequate tank conditions. Pygmy Sunfish do best in small tanks by themselves. Low water current and plants and a fine substrate suit them. Do not buy these and dump them in an open community tank. They don't do well if they have to compete for food. PLEASE do not order these unless you are well versed in providing small live foods. The fish are healthy, colorful, eating, and thriving. It will be up to YOU to provide them with conditions to guarantee that they continue to do so.
