Description

This auction is for 10 unsexed, juvenile, spotted green swordtails. They are about 1/2" and already nicely spotted. Adults are pictured. This is a strain of sword that Pete Mang originally brought into Western NY a handful of years ago. A number of sword guys in the area still maintain them. They are a big sword with females getting to about 4" and very chunky. They are a super nice strain as they are, but I know of a couple folks that crossed them into their own lines to add the spots. I saw some spotted red swords a local hobbyist developed using this strain and they were very nice healthy fish. I will say that this particular strain of sword is pretty scrappy. Even in a larger tank(75 gallons) a dominant male will not tolerate any other males. They are hard drivers as well and I have found 1 male to 3 females works out well. Otherwise the females are pursued relentlessly by the male. I've had these swords bully large keyhole cichlids and adult breeder angels too. So if you like big boisterous swords, these are probably in your wheelhouse. These are not weak, line-bred fish. Shipping is $15(non-refundable) on top of the winning bid.
