Description

This listing is for at least 10 Aquatic Isopods. I haven't positively identified the species but I suspect something in the Caecidotea genus. They are a fantastic detritivore that are tolerant of a wide range of water parameters and are 100% shrimp/egg/fry/plant safe in contrast to similar detritivores like Scuds. Extremely easy to breed. I suspect they have potential as a live food culture. I will ensure to include a good mix of males and females in this batch. I keep them with shrimp and other small fish but haven't experimented much when it comes to finding out what fish will go out of their way to hunt them. You can tell the difference between male and females relatively easily once you get used to looking at them. The females will carry eggs underneath them that are quite obvious. The males are larger and have a much larger set of claws. I recommend keeping them in a fish free location until you get a population going of your own before playing with them in different tanks with fish. They can reach sexual maturity in 4-5ish weeks in my experience if the temperature is around 74-76f. Shipping should be $12-$18 USPS priority depending on location and will be included on a PayPal invoice. Feel free to message me with any questions here or at inmytanks@gmail.com.
