A male Ferocious water bug with eggs on his back. I will send him in his own bag as well as another of the same species (male or female, without eggs) just in case anything happens to the egg carrier. I would not want you to receive nothing but a dead creature in the mail. That being said, you may request that I not send "backup". These are predaceous hemipterans (true bugs). They are not insects and therefore they are not beetles. They will grab whatever swims by. If you do not wish to stock an aquatic food supply and you have access to some leaf little or logpiles, you may find small earthworms and feed them to your bug. I send them with an aquatic plant. It is important that they have aquatic plants to cling to. These animals also need still water so a filter, unless it is a sponge filter, should be skipped. Important, so please note: If the adult male arrives dead (entirely possible), here is what you should do-> peel the egg mass off of the male in a clump and place it onto the floating plant (provided) so that it is partially submerged. Spritz the top of the eggs with water daily. At least some of the eggs will hatch. I do not accept returns if/because the male has died. If, by the time you purchase the male, the eggs have begun hatching, I will bag all of the babies that emerge. $10 to supplement shipping
