Description

6 juvenile, unsexed gold ocellatus. They are about 1" in length. They are feeding on Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp and chopped frozen bloodworms. I harem breed mine. Usually 2 or 3 females to 1 male. I keep them in a tank with several inches of play sand as substrate with several groups of escargot shells. They are in hard Lake Erie tap water at 78 degrees. Adult females routinely produce small clutches of fry. These are shell dwellers but not colony breeders like multi's. Males can be pretty rough with each other. My males typically establish a large territory(usually the entire tank) and females establish a smaller territory inside the male's. Even as adults they are relatively small(2 1/2" for an adult male) but very tough. They can usually handle themselves in a Tanganyikan community tank unless other fish are large enough to swallow them. If you've worked with multi's and enjoy shell dwellers these are a nice change as far as social behavior. I do not recommend placing these fish in an uncycled aquarium. They can be sensitive to sudden changes in water quality. In an established aquarium they are not sensitive to water changes. This auction will ship Saturday 1/18 so payment is due at the close of auction on Friday 1/17. If payment is not received as requested, I will relist the auction. Thanks for looking.
