Description

2 - pair Pseudotropheus demasoni is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi where it is only known from the "Pombo Rocks" in Tanzanian waters. This species can potentially reach a maximum length of 10 centimeters (3.9 in). This Cichlid is one of the most aggressive and territorial of the mbuna. It should not be kept with timid species such as Peacocks or Utaka, but it can be combined with other more aggressive mbuna, provided they do not resemble it in patterning. It has no fear and will attack fish several times its own size. The tank should be overcrowded to reduce aggression and territory formation. It is incredibly aggressive towards others of the same species, and the presence of heterospecifics helps to dissipate this. The other option is to keep it in an overcrowded tank with many of its own kind. Subdominant males may still be eliminated, however. Several females should be kept per male in order to reduce harassment by the male. This in itself also presents problems as, unlike many mbuna females, P. Demonisi are also intolerant of congeners. Demasoni are predominantly vegetarians but should have their diet supplemented with live and or frozen food. Temperature: 75-82F (24-28C) pH: 7.6-8.8 Hardness: 10-25dGH Shipping- USPS Priority- $11.00 We ship on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
