Green Texas, aka 'Pearlscale' Cichlid Herichthys cyanoguttatus (formerly Cichlasoma cyanoguttatum)

The only cichlid native to the USA!

A large cichlid native to Southern Texas and Northern Mexico, these fish max out at a whopping 12"- be sure you have enough space! Notoriously feisty by nature, adult specimens should not be kept in tanks smaller than 75 gallons, or with tankmates incapable of tolerating their territorial antics. If you have the system for them, these fish are sure to delight with their bright colors and intense iridescent, particularly when spawning.
