I got into freshwater shrimps about 10 years ago and created a stainless steel pre-filter for my intake filter because I kept on finding baby shrimp in my filter when I was doing filter maintenance. I wonder how many shrimp did not make it past the impeller. I was not happy with any type of pre-filter readily available so I devolped a stainless steel pre-filter and starting selling them here on Aquabid. I have sold hundreds of my handmade shrimp pre-filters on AquaBid over the past few years and have decided to share my latest shrimp related project. I have modified a hang on breeding box specifically for breeding freshwater shrimp. Improvements made over store bought original: No more noisy air pump or gurgling of water, outflow gate will prevent baby shrimp from flowing into main tank, increased circulation, additional outflow to prevent water overflow, spray bar for even flow, pump can be secured on glass with added elbow, custom stainless steel pre-filter for water pump. This breeding box can also be used for selectively breeding shrimp. Think of all the possibilities of shrimp by selective breeding. The breeding box hangs on the outside of an existing tank and holds .5 gallon of water. It is great if you are tight on space and don't want to have to do more maintenance on an additional tank etc. This breeder box uses the water in an existing tank and constantly recirculates the water from your main tank through the breeder box. I would recommend adding some small plants, pieces of wood or some small rocks with some bio film into the breeder box. Shipping is $14.00 via U.S.P. Priority Mail.
