Description

Auction is for one Water Spider Orchid starting to bloom like in picture below.( Habenaria repens) The water Spider Orchid is one of the few TRUE aquatic ( though still emergent) orchids. It can be planted on floating masses such as Hyacinth or water lettuce or planted in nutrient rich mildly acidic substrate with VERY wet feet ( up to 5 inches water depth.). It is self fertile and seeds will begin to grow after about 2 months from seeding. Beautiful spider-like green blooms on a long stalk of blooms. It blooms for weeks on end and usually twice in a year.. it is deciduous and will die back for winter.. It should be protected from extreme cold in zones less than 7b . It will also propagate via runners from the mother plant.

These work well in ponds and ripariums.

These are sold as single bare root plants packed in some wet sphagnum. Auction is for one plant but you can purchase up the two additional plants for 18.25 each with no added shipping cost.
