Salvinia minima is a rapidly growing aquatic floating fern that is used in planted aquariums and ponds. Salvinia minima is known as Water Spangles or Water Fern, and Salvinia minima Baker. It floats rootless on stagnant pools of waters, slow flowing streams, ditches and canals. Salvinia minima are free floating ferns are distinguishable from their whorls of three, and the green oval shaped leaves. The leaves (fronds) float rootless on branching rhizomes that float just below the surface. At each node of the rhizome, two floating and one submersed frond is produce. Each frond is approximately � to 1 1/2 inches (1-3 cm) in length. The top side of the frond is often described as fuzzy due to the white hairs that grow on its surface.
Light drives the reproduction and growth of this plant. It can reproduce and adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions. This plant is excellent for controlling nitrates in your pond or aquariumand will greatly improve water quality.
There may be snails or their eggs in this plant. I ship on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for all orders placed by 9PM MST the day before.
