Aponogeton crispus: Native to southern India and Sri Lanka, where it usually occurs in seasonal ponds, becoming dormant in the dry season,[1] Aponogeton crispus is found naturally in both still and running waters.

It is often cultivated as an aquarium plant and is probably the easiest and most robust of the aponogetons It prefers moderate to bright lighting from above, and will tolerate a wide temperature range, c. 15 - 32C. Cabomba caroliniana, commonly known as Green Cabomba, is an aquatic perennial herbaceous plant native to South America. Grows rooted in the mud of stagnant to slow flowing water, including streams, smaller rivers, lakes, ponds, sloughs, and ditches. Cabomba is a submersed, sometimes floating, but often rooted, freshwater perennial plant with short, fragile rhizomes. The erect shoots are upturned extensions of the horizontal rhizomes. The shoots are grass green to olive green or sometimes reddish brown. The leaves are of two types: submersed and floating. The submersed leaves are finely divided and arranged in pairs on the stem. The floating leaves, when present, are linear and inconspicuous, with an alternate arrangement. They are less than 1/2inch (13mm) long and narrow (less than 1/4inch or 6mm). The leaf blade attaches to the centre, where there is a slight constriction. The flowers are white and small (less than 1/2inch (13mm) in diameter), and are on stalks which arise from the tips of the stems.

Ceratophyllum demersum (hornwort, rigid hornwort, coontail, or coon's tail[1]) is a species of Ceratophyllum. It is a submerged, free-floating aquatic plant, with a cosmopolitan distribution, native to all continents except Antarctica. This species is often used as a floating freshwater plant in both coldwater and tropical aquaria, though without roots, it may attach itself to the substrate or objects in the aquarium. Its fluffy, filamentous, bright-green green leaves provide excellent cover for newly-hatched fish. It is propagated by cuttings.[11] In aquaria this plant appears to drop all its leaves when exposed to products designed to kill snails. The stems can recover relatively quickly, growing new leaves within a few weeks.

Glosso (Glossostigma elatinoides) This is a very nice plant that will cover the foreground of your aquarium forming a nice green carpet. It grows to a maximun of 5 cm

Glossostigma elatinoides 000

Hemianthus micranthemoides is a popular aquatic plant most commonly used in aquascaping. It is very similar to H.callitrichoides, but has much smaller leaves than the latter. It belongs to the group of aquarium plants commonly known as "baby tears". Most people use it as a carpet I prefer to attach it to rocks or driftwood.

Hygrophila difformis, commonly known as water wisteria (though it is not closely related to true wisteria), is an aquatic plant in the acanthus family. It is found in marshy habitats on the Indian subcontinent in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. It grows to a height of 20-50 cm with a width of 15 to 25 cm.[c Water wisteria is easy to grow and as such it is a very popular plant for the tropical aquarium. It grows best in good light with a nutriment rich water and substrate and it benefits from additional CO2 . It can be easily propagated from cuttings.

Limnophila indica is a good and undemanding plant which is a good alternative to Cabomba,. Most beautiful when planted in groups. In good growing conditions it sends out runners and spreads across the bottom.

limnophila indica 000 AMBULIA

Ludwigia Peruensis, or Ludwigia glandulosa, is a beautiful amphibious plant that will grow either partially or fully submersed. In its fully submersed form, its spade-shaped leaves range in color from dark green to brownish-red. The top of the leaves are typically olive green in color, whereas the undersides are reddish-brown to deep red. The Ludwigia Peruensis makes a good mid-ground plant in the average aquarium, or even placed as a background in the smaller aquarium.

Ludwigia repens is a species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family known by the common name creeping primrose willow. It is native to parts of the Americas and it has the potential to spread easily and become naturalized in many areas. It is known as an aquatic weed in some regions. It is also cultivated as an aquarium plant. This is a mat-forming perennial herb with a creeping stem up to 30 centimeters long, rooting at nodes which come in contact with substrate. The leaves are oppositely arranged and up to 4 or 5 centimeters long. The flower has four yellow colored petals no more than 3 millimeters long nested on a base of four pointed sepals which may be slightly longer.

Myriophyllum (watermilfoil) These submersed aquatic plants are perhaps most commonly recognized for having elongate stems with air canals and whorled leaves that are finely, pinnately divided

myriophyllum simulans filigree 000

Parrot feather is a perennial plant. Parrot feather gets its name from its feather-like leaves that are arranged around the stem in whorls of four to six. The emergent stems and leaves are the most distinctive trait of parrot feather, as they can grow up to a foot above the water surface and look almost like small fir trees

Potamogeton gayi: This plant is one of the favorites of Mr Amano. It has very thin stems and leaves. While the stems stand erect, the alternate leaves in rows of two slightly arch

Rotala Nanjenshan is an ideal mid-ground plant that will add color to the freshwater planted aquarium. Because of the small leaf size, it will grow rather densely, and may need to be thinned out in time.

rotala nanjenshan 300

Shinnersia rivularis: Another mid-ground plant Also known as ''Mexican Oak Leaf'' owing to its oak-shaped foliage. In aquariums Shinnersia rivularis probably grows faster than any other plant, although it is generally found as a marsh plant in the wild. The distance between leaves is great if the light is poor, and the length of the leaves depends directly on the light intensity. Easy to propagate by side shoots or cuttings, which should be cut off and planted in the bottom.

The Hygrophila, Temple Narrow Leaf with its thick stems and broad bright green leaves that can reach a length of 5" underwater, This plant makes a unique addition to a freshwater planted aquarium. It is one of my favorite plants. The Hygrophila, Temple Narrow Leaf plant will grow to a maximum size of 24", and should be pruned regularly to keep it from shading its neighbors. It makes an ideal background plant that will help in hiding the aquarium's equipment. This plant will not begin to branch until the top has been cut.

TEMPLE NARROW LEAF temple plant hygrophila corym

Hygrophila corymbosa: Also know as Temple Hygrophila corymbosa has long and narrow pointy leaves with an average of 3 to 5 inches. If let grown, the height of the plant can reach up to 24 inches. The leaves are bright green and quite dense if the plant is kept in proper conditions. Because it is fast growing, this plant can be used as cycling plants. They are also very popular in Dutch aquaria for their bushy appearance and in cichlid tanks for their ability to adapt to a broad range of water parameters.

Lysimachia nummularia: It is a great plant for the novice. Makes a good mid-ground because it doesn't grow out of control like others of the same specie
Lysimachia nummularia 000 LLOYDIELLA

Nesaea pedicellata 'Golden': Not very easy to find in the US trade. It is native to West Africa and has yellowish green colored leaves with brown stems. Nesaea pedicellata is native to west Africa and is relatively easy to grow in an aquarium. It tolerates both hard or soft water and prefers a temperature between 70 and 78 degrees. It prefers medium to high lighting and a nutritious substrate. N. pedicellata 'Golden' shares these characteristics which make it a nice colorful addition to any aquarium. There are very few gold colored plants in the aquarium trade so the addition of Nesaea pedicellata 'Gold' will help aquascapers around the world to add more color and diversity to their planted aquaria.

NESAEA GOLDEN

Rotala wallichii is original of South-asia. It is a stem plant that develops red shoot tips in good light conditions. Stems from 10-30 cm and approximately 5 cm wide. The most decorative effect can be achieved by planting a large number of stems in a group. Rotala wallichii is a good foreground plant, and suitable for small aquariums because it is easy to prune if it grows too large
