Never before offered: Beautiful Red Plant Package 6 Species 25+ plants in all, some rare and hard to find, plus extras thrown in! 1. Ludwigia repens Ludwigia repens from North America has striking dark red coloration on the underside of the leaves and stalk with the upper side of the leaves coloring up to a reddish olive green color under bight light. Stems from 20-50 cm and 4-6 cm wide. It makes a fine color contrast to the green shades in the aquarium. Plant in large groups to enhance the decorative effect, and prune regularly to encourage bushy growth. The plant makes few demands, but if light is insufficient the lower leaves tend to fall off. However, the stronger the light the more intense the color becomes. Clippings will root. 6 sprigs 2. Ludwigia repens �Red� This North American stem plant grows and turns red easy. Each stalk becomes 2-4 cm wide and 10-30 cm high. This sport from Ludwigia repens is slightly smaller than its parent plant making it ideal for Nano tanks. The plant willingly creates side shoots, but cutting increases the amount to create a beautiful intensely red bush. The cutoff shoots can be replanted and they quickly generate new roots. The plant becomes intensely red and grows better, when placed in high light. 2 sprigs 3. Rotala rotundifolia from South-East Asia has long, thin leaves 2-3 cm wide and 15-30 long stems. Unlike other Rotala species it is relatively undemanding, although it needs good light to produce pink - red leaves. It forms side shoots willingly, becoming compact and bushy. This also means that it is hard for light to reach the lower leaves, so the plant should be pruned frequently. Also known as Rotala indica. Clippings will root. 3 Sprigs 4. Red Bamboo Persicaria sp. 'Kawagoeanum' This is a new and exciting plant that has a bamboo-like appearance with striking coloration. It is a rapid grower that is easily cultivated. Leaves can get up to approximately 3 inches in length. Though this sounds large, the plant can easily be used in medium-sized aquariums due to its tiered, bamboo-like growth pattern. This plant branches easily. This color gives way to an olive green as the light gets less intense. While this plant can take up nutrients from the substrate, water column nutrients are also readily used because it is a stem plant. Newer to the aquarium hobby, it is not usually found in stores. Because of its striking coloration, Polygonum sp. �Kawagoeanum� can be a great focal plant. Its height and branching habit, make it a perfect candidate for a background plant. The hobbyist should know that this plant will require regular maintenance due to its quick growth. Since Persicaria sp. �Kawagoeanum� naturally forms a dense branching bush, it is best suited for a naturalized aquascape rather than the neatly trimmed Dutch-style aquascapes.
