Stem plants sold are cuttings which are 4 to 8 inches long. Some have roots already the rest will quickly grow new roots. This is the horticultural method for propagation of stem plants. Many of my plants are flowering and going to seed and produce many seedlings. My growing methods are so prolific that I throw in many extras that may be smaller or larger including rooted seedlings that may be better that the original.
