Tips for a Successful Transaction

Read all the information the seller provides so you can make a smart decision. Sometimes there cannot be a TL;DR.

If you still have questions after reading everything, or have any special requests, ask before bidding. What you want may not be possible.

Check your email, including spam. It's our only means of contacting you.

Read the entire email, the last sentence may be a question. Not replying can delay shipment.

If you are having trouble receiving emails, you can see messages sent to you through the AquaBid messaging system by going HERE and entering your Username and Password.

Make sure the email and physical addresses on file with AquaBid and PayPal are up to date and correct.

Check your 10 day weather forecast. Most problems are caused by temperature extremes, both hot and cold.

The seller cannot make the package arrive on a certain day. Priority Mail doesn't have a guaranteed delivery date, it usually takes 2 or 3 days to arrive but may take longer.

2 Large Mystery Snail Clutches

Shown below are the clutches you will receive, they have HUNDREDS (combined waaay over 500) of unusually large cells, big cells mean big babies. There are only Magenta and Ivory Snails in the tank, you should get a mix of only Magenta and Ivory babies from the clutch. Magenta, Pink, Light Purple, Light Foot Purple, Peppermint etc. are all the same thing, the body is nearly white with orange eyes and markings and the shell is light with stripes, pale pink when very young and darkening with age. Ivory have the same body but no color in the shell. Over-exposed photos may make them look nearly white but Ivories are more of a creamy color.

These were laid on a piece of wood I use to cover a gap (so the females can't climb out). I suspect both are from the same mother because back on July 25th two previous ones were laid in the same place. Two females laying clutches in a strange spot on the same night is odd but nothing more. When it happens again... I think she just saves up a ridiculous amount of eggs.

Having the clutches on wood dries them out (and it's too easy for my to bump them) so I removed them immediately which ruins the bottom layer of eggs (they are ruined anyways because the wood would dry them out). The photos below show the damage and how big they are from the side. They are thick enough that losing one layer isn't a big deal, I only mention it in the interest of full disclosure.

The two previous clutches laid in that spot were fully fertile. You can see all the baby snails developing in the candling photos below. Below is not what you are receiving, they are the 7/25 clutches a that will be hatching soon.

Hatch time is temperature dependent but usually takes roughly about 2 weeks (extremes of 10 to 21+ days) so this needs to arrive before it starts to hatch. I would like to ship this on or before August 16th, the absolutely last day I could ship them is August 18th.

These do need veggies in their diet. Collard or dandelion greens are great choices. Green beans and peas are good too. Plain lettuce doesn't really have any nutritional value (except Romaine). Spinach contains oxalic acid which prevents the calcium from being bio-available so I don't recommend it as a staple food. They will eat some soft algaes but I would not call them a serious algae eater, regardless of what others may say about how they will end your algae woes.

They like to clean up fish food which has fallen to the bottom. This is important if you ever overfeed. You do not want old food rotting in the tank with the chance that a fish might try to eat it. It's a misconception that snails eat fish poo, sorry, it doesn't work like that. They DO NOT eliminate the need to clean the tank or do waterchanges. Putting too many adults in a tank will increase the maintenance needed, more isn't better.

Suitable tankmates include small gentle community fish. Most loaches and cichlids are poor choices. Even if the snail is not killed outright, constantly having their antennas or bodies nipped at will make their lives miserable. In a suitable environment, mystery snails are active. A shrimp tank is heaven for them and the shrimp ride around on them.

The winner will receive comprehensive care info but not a hatch kit. Briefly, no acidic water, no soft water, no big fish. Temps up to 80F. These make good companions for small & nano fish and especially easy shrimp.

Term details are on my Just Me page which was updated May 2nd 2014. Read it before bidding.

Payment is through PayPal only (you do not need an account, just a credit card), no e-checks. When paying with PayPal, you must use a shipping address, my account is configured to only accept PayPal Confirmed Addresses.

Priority Mail shipping is just postage for a Small Flat Rate box, $5.25. The clutche(s) will be cushioned with poly, insulated with newspaper and in a Small Flat Rate box. Hot locations, 90F and up, require a PO Box that is a PayPal Confirmed address, 90F+ is too hot to go out for delivery.

Some of my other auctions may be combined with this for savings on shipping costs.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
