50+ Mixed Ramshorns

This auction is for 50+ Ramshorns of mixed colors. These are the snails which I pass over when bagging up feeders for people with puffers. Sorry puffer people but if a snail looks cool, I don't want to send it off to be a snack. I save them up, usually sorted by color, and see if anything really unusual develops.

The snails shown are representative of what is available, not necessarily the actual snails. The size will range from BB to Pea, none will be big older snails which only have a few months left. When people ask that I pick out the biggest ones to keep as pets, it tells me they know absolutely nothing about snails. These grow REALLY fast and only live a year or so. That would be like going to an animal shelter and asking for the oldest dog they have cuz you want it to die in couple of years...

Some are just standard colors, like red, the offspring of snails I have working in my tanks. There may be top quality snails that got into mischief with a different color snail and will have mixed color babies. A lot will be light body (pink/red) with spots which will develop into lower quality blues. There will probably be some which develop into high quality blues, please keep in mind that the blue appearance only develops as they become adults over pea sized. Right now they will be spotted, you will not get any that are already blue. There may be pastels, there may be pinks with imperfect shells. There is no such thing as yellow, if they turn that color it means they are dying. There may be a few leopards but won't be any wild type browns.

If you sort them out by color, and continue sorting them as the spotted ones get bigger, you will probably end up with a viable breeding population of all the commercially available colors. In the offspring you may get a color which is not available for sale yet. Sorry but I am not taking requests to pick out certain colors, I am picking interesting and attractive snails which shouldn't be used as feeders.

General care info will be provided to the winner if nrequested. Briefly, no acidic water, no soft water, no big fish. They will eat soft algae if hungry but live plants only if starving. Temps up to 80F. These make good companions for guppies, nano fish and easy shrimp.
