Tips for a Successful Transaction

Read all the information the seller provides so you can make a smart decision. Sometimes there cannot be a TL;DR.

If you still have questions after reading everything, or have any special requests, ask before bidding. What you want may not be possible.

Check your email, including spam. It's our only means of contacting you.

Read the entire email, the last sentence may be a question. Not replying can delay shipment.

If you are having trouble receiving emails, you can see messages sent to you through the AquaBid messaging system by going HERE and entering your Username and Password.

Make sure the email and physical addresses on file with AquaBid and PayPal are up to date and correct.

Check your 10 day weather forecast. Most problems are caused by temperature extremes, both hot and cold.

The seller cannot make the package arrive on a certain day. Priority Mail doesn't have a guaranteed delivery date, it usually takes 2 or 3 days to arrive but may take longer.

Build your own Assortment!

In July I made an easy assortment and gave the option to do substitutions. EVERY.SINGLE.BUYER.DID. So let's try this a different way. Choose ANY 4 from the list below. In addition to the original aquatics, I have included the other substitutions I did.

  • 6 Red Cherry Shrimp Small Juveniles
  • 1 Red Cherry Shrimp Berried Female
  • 5 Ramshorns
  • 5 Baby Mysteries
  • 12 Malaysian Trumpet Snails (if available)
  • Small starter portion Subwassertang
  • 4 Tropical Hornwort Stems.
  • 2 Small clumps Needle Leaf Java Fern
You can choose the same thing twice. Want 2 groups of Juvie Shrimp and 2 groups of Ramshorns? Sure! Want 2 Berried Female RCS and 2 portions of Subwassertang? Sure! Want 1 each of Shrimp, Ramshorn, Hornwort and Mystery? Sure! (Where were you when I had the original assortment up?) Want more than 4 choices? Sure, add more for $4.25 each, depending on what you choose it may change shipping. If you want a lot of something just email and I will do my best to put a package together for you.

Small Juvenile Red Cherry Shrimp, roughly 1/4" (min 3/16" to max 3/8"+) These are the easiest of all dwarf fresh water shrimp and thrive in a wide range of parameters as long as the water is reasonably clean. Each group is 6 shrimp.

Berried Female RCS, young female carrying developing eggs (pregnant). The eggs hatch into perfect miniatures of the parents and need no special care. Each group is one berried female.

Ramshorns are probably the best all purpose snails. They are VERY easy to keep and breed, come in attractive colors and aren't as invasive as pond snails. They'll be roughly pea sized, mix and match colors (top to bottom: Blue (sorry not available), Red (limited quantities) , Pink, Purple, Leopard) or get all the same color if you prefer. If the juveniles and adults look significantly different I have shown both with adults on the right. Each group is 5 snails.

Mysteries eventually get fairly big, up around 1.5" and if snails can have personality, they have it! They will climb to the surface to slurp food in from the surface and crawl to the top of a bubble curtain then let go and surf back down. It takes a male and female for breeding and eggs are laid above the waterline so if you don't want it's up to you, just remove the clutch. Mix and match Magenta and/or Ivory. Each group is 5 baby snails, small pea sized.

Note: These are truly tropical and won't be shipped without a heatpack if it's cold, LAG only if >50F.

Malaysian Trumpet snails, These are indispensable for preventing compaction in the substrate. You don't see them much in the daytime as they burrow underground but they come out at night to do janitorial duty. They are parthenocarpic and adults pop out a live baby every now and then. Population matches the food supply, in other words, if they are breeding out of control, you are probably doing some serious overfeeding, MTS are way better than extra food rotting food though... Each group is 12 snails. Cannot guarantee this will be available.

Tropical Hornwort is an easy floating plant which grows quickly. Each group is 4 stems.

Subwassertang is an easy plant that looks like seaweed, use the same way as moss. Each group is as shown below.

Needle Leaf Java Fern has the same super easy care as regular Java Fern, just with much more narrow leaves. Once established is has a grassy look to it. Didn't take photos yet but you can get an idea of what it looks like from Google. Each group is 2 small plants, each with several leaves.

You can read about caring for Red Cherry Shrimp at Planet Inverts and I will supply my own care info for the Ramshorns and Mysteries.

Including shipping, this is less than half the cost of buying everything separately.

If you can think of something else you want to substitute, and I am sure someone will, ask before bidding. If you bid and win then start trying to negotiate something other than what is listed above... the answer will be no. As always I am happy to add additional aquatics to your purchase or combine shipping with another auction.

If you skipped reading the beginning of the auction:
YOU GET TO PICK 4 GROUPS of what is listed above.

Questions? Click for email.

Term details are on my Just Me page which was updated August 24, 2014. Read it before bidding.

Payment is through PayPal only (you do not need an account, just a credit card), no e-checks. When paying with PayPal, you must use a shipping address, my account is configured to only accept PayPal Confirmed Addresses and I only ship to the address given in PayPal.

Check your forecast! If your weather is moderate, highs in the 80s (or less) and lows above freezing, shipping is just postage for 2 pounds from 01888, $5.32 to $9.97. You can check that cost yourself at usps.com, it will be much faster than asking me for a quote, use the online price (Regional Rate Box A), not the post office price. I ship to PO Boxes if it's Confirmed Address.

If you are in a hot or cold location email to discuss your options. It's not negotiable so ask for costs before bidding.

Shipping will be delayed if extreme weather may endanger the animals, ...it's a hobby not an organ transplant!

LAG for stated quantities for 3 days if >35F and <85F (mysteries only if >50F to 85F).

Some of my other auctions may be combined with this for savings on shipping costs.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
