Auction is for a week's spawn from a breeder colony of the beautiful killifish Fundulopanchax gulare, packed in peat for travel. A semi-annual killie, incubation time has been about 8 weeks dry. Fry are large, and will thrive on newly hatched baby brine shrimp and microworms immediately, and will accept fine pellets and crushed flake food. Additional eggs available.
This is a pretty, mid-sized (about 2.5" as adults) killie that is moderately easy to keep and breed. I spawn them directly on peat, and incubate the eggs dry for about 8 weeks, . Females as usual have little color or mar I incubate these the same as I do Blue Gularis and other semi-annuals. Download my guide: Hatching Blue Gularis Eggs
Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I've never checked it myself, but a couple of buyers report my water arrives with a TDS of 900-1000 ppm.
Shipping: I ship to CONTINENTAL US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $12.00 per shipment for Priority Mail, or $30 for Express Mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together or eggs can ship with fish for no additional shipping charge.
Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.
Replacement: Some eggs do not survive the rigors of shipping. If you get a zero or meager hatch after their due date, I will either replace or refund the price of the eggs. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
