Description

Aphyosemion striatum 25+ Develop

Aphyosemion striatum 25+ Developing Eggs

Offered here are 25+ developing eggs of this striking aquarium strain of Aphyosemion striatum. These little beauties produce about a dozen eggs a day and a pair live happily in a filtered one gallon tank of their own. The adults take flake, freeze dried and live foods and have a lot of personality for a smaller fish. These fish are living in moderately soft Paducah city water with a pH of 7.2 and are not very fussy about water parameters. Incubation time is 14 days +/- a day or two. Pictured here is the male half of the pair these eggs are from.

I've had no problems at all with fungus on the eggs and incubate them in a shallow petri dish with a touch of methylene blue. The literature says to keep the eggs out of the light but aside from keeping them out of direct sunlight I've had no problem incubating them on a shelf in the fish room. The fry are medium small and I start them on my small fry mix of fine ground Spirulina / APR (Artificial Plankton and Rotifers) / 5-50 micron Golden pearls. I'll include a packet of this starter food with your eggs.

After a couple days they can take microworms and BBS and you are home free. As with all small fry, water quality is extremely important so be careful not to overfeed and foul the container. A couple ramshorn snails in the fry container - I use the sandwich size container - will help clean up any excess food.

The eggs with extras ship in water with a touch of meth. blue in a heat sealed poly bag. You will be able to see the developing eggs and won't have to try to separate the fry from peat when they hatch. Just empty your eggs into the hatching container and keep an eye on them, removing any that fungus. I'll also include a half dozen of my 7ml plastic pipettes for help with feeding and transferring fry - snip the tip wider to move fry.

Priority Mail shipping to the continental US only is $8.00 and we can coordinate shipping to avoid really bad patches weather-wise.

Please wait for my invoice at the close of this auction to make payment. Given the short incubation time of these eggs, payment should be made within 24 hours of auction close. I will ship to your PayPal shipping address so make sure it is current.

Thanks for considering my auction!
