Description

IMPORTANT: I ship to the address provided in your payment. If paying by paypal, please, please make sure that shipping address is correct before clicking the send button. Shipping days get hectic, and it's easy to miss requests to ship elsewhere. Thanks...

Auction is for a young pair of the South American Annual killifish Nematolebias (formerly Cynolebias) whitei Cabo Frio, about an inch long at time of writing. They are a fairly easy South American peat diving annual killifish; incubation time is about 12-16 weeks dry. Fry will accept microworms and newly hatched baby brine shrimp shortly after hatching; juveniles and adults thrive on most frozen and live aquarium foods, and will accept some flake or micro pellet foods as well. Additional pairs available.

Whitei is often recommended as a good begginner's annual, and the Cabo Frio location is one of the prettier ones. Plenty of pearly spots on a dark background with bands of color along the fin edges; males get 2.5-3 inches, females smaller and more plainly matked. Title picture is of male from preceding generation; females as usual show very little color or markings. An easy killifish to keep, and moderately easy to breed. Occasional jumpers; keep 'em covered.

Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I've never checked it myself, but a couple of buyers report my water arrives with a TDS of 900-1000 ppm.

Shipping: I ship to US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Fish usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $20.00 per shipment for Priority Mail, or $48 for Express. Multiple fish purchases can be shipped together or eggs can ship with fish for no additional shipping charge.

Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.

Replacement: In the unlikely event that fish perish during shipping, I will either replace or refund the price of the fish, provided that you let me know of the loss within two hours of the time tracking shows delivery. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
