For your consideration are great scavengers - dwarf crayfish. They are very active and won't hide (unless you have bigger predators and not enough hiding spots). I keep mine as a separate colony for better survival rate, but can be kept with smaller fish and shrimp - they don't predate on shrimp, but will have them as a snack if opportunity presents. They are great at controlling worms/leeches - I place a few crayfish in my shrimp tanks and they decimate and worm looking critters! Easy to breed and sustain - I feed them with minced vegetables (carrots, green beans, kale, squash, spinach mixture) with occasional protein addition (boiled eggs, fish, shrimp, chicken). Don't feed them with protein only, they need mostly vegetables/greens. Very easy to keep and VERY helpful in many suitable fish tanks! Shipping is $15 and will combine for up to 8+2 crayfish.
