Hello :-) I know that a good number of people have been waiting with great anticipation for their chance to get their hands on some of the lovely blue dwarf shrimp out of Germany, so here they are! This auction, however, is not for profit. Every single penny of the winning bid amount will go to one of our own AquaBid members who has recently had a baby a bit ahead of schedule - do children EVER follow schedules?! - and is in need of a bit of help. I'm crossing my fingers that the demand for these shrimp is as high as it seemed so that we can help out this nice family. You can read about and view their lovely new baby here:
BABY
This auction is for 10 and a few extras of the absolutely GORGEOUS blue shrimp pictured below. They are very hardy, and breed prolifically. They are also quite active and swim circles around their tank mates, some crystal red shrimp. So far I have kept them in water that has a temperature of 78�F or 25�C, and I even have a few who are seemingly perfectly happy in a fry grow-tank at 86�F or 30�C. The pH they seem most comfortable with is close to neutral, from about 6.5-7.5. They become extra active during the day, and swim all over the tank and explore and eat constantly. It does seem that they appreciate a nice little current, and they do not run and hide from other peaceful tank residents (like the silly crystals do). The female shrimp that have already had baby shrimp put out 30-40 shrimplets at a time! The one thing I would like you to be aware of is that they show their best and darkest blue on darker colored substrates. You can see in the picture below that some keep their blue colors on lighter substrate, and some of them turn a light brown, which they quickly change back to blue on a darker surface.
Of course, I am in Germany. It's far. But shipping is on me, you'll have these guys in about a week, and I 100% GUARANTEE live arrival. If I didn't think they would make it, I wouldn't ship. That being said, if it's over 100 degrees where you are, I'm not going to ship until your 100 degree weather drops, or you have a PO box where it isn't nearly as hot. Also, I will, of course, ship these guys in a very large breather bag with some NICE plants to hang on to.

Added by the Seller on Thu Aug 19 22:15:26 2010:I neglected to mention that these shrimp are known by the scientific name Neocaridina Babaulti, and reach an adult size of 4cm or 1.5 inches.
