Apistogramma Cacatuoides: are a stunning breed of dwarf cichlid that are relatively hardy and fairly easy to keep. The males have more colorful fins than the females. Females turn a beautiful bright yellow at times. These fish like to have enough room to establish their own territories and enjoy a planted tank. Apistos appreciate cave like structure/dwellings to hide in and lay their eggs inside. These fish are generally Peaceful when not defending their young or territory, so they are considered on the lower end of the "semi-aggressive" scale. However, they are generally peaceful and would be fit for community tanks with peaceful fish. These fish even love to sand sift which is fun to watch! Having a tank meet the needs of any fish will make them comfortable and bring out their best colors and personalities! Quick facts about these wonderful fish! Common name: Cockatoo dwarf cichlid. Size: Males reach aprox 3 inches, Females reach aprox 2.5 inches (give or take depending on conditions). Temp: 74-80℉. PH: 6.5-7.5. Origin: South America. Spawning method: Cave spawner. Difficulty: Easy. Fish Diet: My fish are currently on a variety of these foods. Baby brine shrimp, Bloodworms, Blackworms, Hikari pellets, Fluval bug bites, Daphnia. I also add Vitachem to the water once weekly as a supplement (this is water and tissue soluble) to help keep them healthy. Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look!
