BROWN DWARF BRISTLENOSE ANCISTRUS

I have a limited quantity of large juvenile (sub-adult) bristlenose. You are bidding on ONE bristlenose with the option to get more. Size is from 1.75" to 2.25". These are big enough to make a major dent in your algae fast. And if you have larger fish like cichlids, these are big enough to go in with most fish. Some of these have already learned to be cautious, they have lived with cichlids most of their lives. I also have some which have never been in a tank with anything tougher than a guppy... they are more likely to be out in the open during the day. Your choice of wary or innocent.

This auction is aimed at the hobbyist who is looking for a fish that can get to work right away, can live with larger fish and doesn't need any special care past the usual diet requirements all BN have. I have not selected any females out of this group so there should be the normal ratio of two males for each female. However the fish are being offered as unsexed. Please do not ask me to provide trios for only $15. Thank you for understanding.

I prefer the natural look of brown fish in my personal (non-breeder) tanks. No two are alike and you can get to know the individual fish. They do have personalities, likes and dislikes. They show color changes going from an even brown, brown with spots to a very broken up camo when their mood changes. They grow faster and breed sooner. Fins are less likely to get nipped by bigger fish because the are not as bright. Have you ever really taken the time to look at the markings on these fish?

The idea of extra large DWARF plecos doesn't make sense to me, I don't selectively breed for the biggest fish. Most females mature at just under 4", males slightly more, but they could be anywhere from 3" to 5", both extremes are rare. These fish live for many years and are trouble free with the right diet.

Bristlenose need places to hide and really appreciate a choice of several caves. Males will establish territories, some females may also. A diet rich in fiber including fresh veggies, such as zucchini, green beans, peas and collard greens is REQUIRED. I will be including some fresh high quality algae discs for them to eat to make sure they get off to a good start with you. Driftwood for them to rasp on is advised and will provide additional fiber and aid digestion. A high protein diet without enough fiber can cause serious problems. Plan on a MINIMUM of 10 gallons per fish at adult size. If you are not sure how many you need for your tank(s) just email. IME, most people overestimate how many fish they need to keep a tank free of soft algae. Ideal temps are 70s up to about 80F.

I have less than a dozen left of these, won't be more for months. If you want them bid now.
