Description

Grindal worms are a small white non parasitic worm. They are closely related to the red earthworm. Grindal worms usually grow to approximately 10 mm in length, which are a bit smaller than white worms. This makes them an excellent food choice for larger fry, juveniles, and adult fish. These worms are often cultured in moist (NOT wet) soil, peat moss, coconut fiber, or on scouring pads. They are easily fed and have a generally low maintenance demand. Grindals can be fed a variety of dry foods such as dog food, kibble, dried baby cereal, and bread. To help prevent mites, they should only be fed only what they can eat in a 24-48 hour time frame. Air holes can be stuffed with cotton, filter floss, or cover with coffee filter paper. Keeping your culture tied up inside an old pillow case is also very helpful. Grindal worms have a nutritional value of about 70% protein and 14% fat. They can make a highly desirable and irresistible addition to your fish's diet. During reproduction, these worms will produce a cocoon that contains anywhere from 20 to 25 eggs. The eggs will hatch after approximately 12 days. Reproduction is best at 70-75 degrees F. Newly produced grindal worms will start to reproduce at about 20 days old. You should split your cultures every month or two depending on size of container and rate of reproduction. If possible, keep two cultures active at one time to prevent total loss if one crashes and dies. As with most live cultures, there are different methods to culturing grindal worms. Auction winner will receive grindal worms in a soil based medium that will contain adult worms AND eggs. Shipping is with USPS priority mail at a cost of $8.50. SHIPPING POLICY I ship Monday through Wednesday only. This helps prevent loss of life due to weekend delays. I strongly urge all customers to keep a close eye on tracking using USPS tracking service. It is important that you are able to receive your package as soon as it is delivered as some species of fish and feeder cultures are very sensitive to extreme hot and cold temperatures. In most cases, I use USPS Priority Mail but some items do ship USPS First Class. Overnight mail is available upon request. After your package leaves my hands I cannot be responsible for late, delayed, damaged, lost, or stolen packages. I ship to the US only. I reserve the right to hold shipping if I feel that the weather is not within reasonable conditions. I will NOT risk the health of my stock. HOLIDAY SHIPPING POLICY I do NOT ship during holidays. If I feel that your order will not arrive without delay, I will hold shipping until the following week. I know this may be of some inconvenience but I want to make sure everyone gets a healthy package. RETURN/DOA POLICY ****STOP**** PLEASE READ**** If you have purchased a worm culture that you think may have perished during transit, or that may have a bad odor, do NOT throw the substrate away. It will contain viable eggs that will hatch. Instead set up and feed the culture as normal. Due to the nature of my products, I do not accept returns. If in the rare event that your culture or fish arrive dead you must send me 2 photos within 2 hours of delivery time. I will do my best to resolve any issues that you may have. **I do not guarantee live arrivals on fish that are NOT shipped express (overnight) mail.** I cannot be responsible for cultures or fish after the allotted delivery time as I cannot control how well you care for them or how long they are exposed to temperatures in mailboxes. It is strongly advised that if you purchase any of my live products, you should take extra measures to be available to receive your package as soon as it is delivered. Please note: If a replacement order of fish or a culture is needed, the buyer must pay for shipping. All orders will only be replaced once. If a replacement attempt fails, the buyer will be given a store credit for the originally ordered product excluding any shipping charges. Buyer must send email and 2 photos to: willyoueatworms@gmail.com within the same 2 hour allotted delivery time before any credit is applied. Be sure to visit my website for more beautiful fish and yummy cultures! INSTRUCTIONS FOR CULTURING and acclimating fish can also be found at: www.willyoueatworms.wixsite.com/willyoueatworms
