This is for approximately 500 daphnia magna Russian Red. These are the Russian Red strain which was orginally released into the hobby by Jim Langhammer. Its a strain that has been maintained for over 40 years and I believe its reaching its 60 year. It has since adpated to home aquarist and is now more hardier and even more prolific than regular daphnia magna.

Great for all kinds of fishes like neon tetras, apistogrammas, and Rams. These are the largest daphnia and are great for adult fishes. The offspring of these daphnia can be feed to smaller fishes. Also tTemperature is best around 70F but I have kept them up to 86F and at a minimum of 33F. Although they can withstand those temperatures, best to keep it around room temperature for best results. Easy to keep and maintain so you can have a live food source all year round.

I like too keep things simple and I feed them just yeast. I have tried green water, infusoria, and many other things, but I find that yeast is the best. It can maintain a culture for a very long time and is the most consistant food. For me its a pain to culture food for my food.

Here is a great link that explains how to get the most out of your daphnia culture http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/fishfood/raisingdaphnia.php

Free shipping!! I do live arrival guarantee as long as the temperature in your area is higher than 35 degrees. These are very hardy and will withstand the extremes. In the rare case of DOA, I will ship out another package and all you have to pay is the shipping. Please check out my other auctions because combined shipping available and you can save on the shipping price. As always, thanks for looking and have a good one!

Oh and please wait until I email you to give you my paypal address. Please also include in the message area which item you are paying for. Thank you very much!

*As a side note, paramecium can be co-cultured with daphnia magna russian red. I find that it is benificial for both cultures. The paramecium keeps the water from fouling and the magna will in turn eat the paramecium. It's will make the culture very stable. I still always have enough paramecium in this culture to feed my fry. The cultures I sell are pure and are not co-cultures*
