4� oz�Grindal Worms�Culture

This is a�4 oz�Size Culture. � Shipping Info: Shipping is�$5.75 by US Priority Mail. I will send an invoice at the end of the auction. Also, please visit my website at Deb's Live Fish Food Shop www.debslivefishfoodshop.com Culturing Instructions: Grindal�Worms�(Enchytraeus buchholzi) were�first isolated�by a lady named Mrs. Morton Grindal from Sweden who stumbled across them as she separated them from their cousin, the White Worms which are larger in size. � Which Fish Will Eat Them :�Most�fish that start at 1/2" to adult�like Killifish, Bettas, Guppies, Angelfish, Discus, Gouramis, Corydoras, Apistogrammas etc. � Environment: Select a dark area in your room to keep your culturing container. � Temperature: Room temperature. � Size: They grow up to�1/2 inch�long. � Food: You can feed finely ground dried cat food, instant baby cereal (oatmeal), instant mashed potato flakes (plain), fish food flakes and�white bread. Thee foods must be moist when feeding. � Container: Choose an�heavy duty�container with a secure lid. You'll need to make tiny air holes on the upper sides of your container so that your culture can breathe. � Medium:�� There are many mediums that can be used. I prefer a worm bedding that doesn't contain soil/ dirt because soil quickly sours and turns to mud. You may also use coconut fibre (coir), top soil, foam, sponges etc. � Harvesting:�Use a popsicle stick, q-tip�or similar tool to gather the worms that are crawling up the sides of your container and lid. I will sometimes deliberately put food on the sides of the container and lid so that the worms will congregate there.�Then I will collect as many as I want and leave the ones that I don't need.�Then�I'll dip my�worms into a small portion cup filled with clean room temperature water. I prefer to use spring water instead of tap.�Gently stir to mix the worms and water. Using an eye dropper,�I can feed the worms to my fish. � Sub-Culturing:� It's best to start a new culture every 2- 3 weeks. Prepare your new medium and add part of your old culture to the new one. � � Helpful Hints: � If your culture starts to smell bad, immediately start a new one by using worms that have crawled up the sides of your container. � If your culture becomes to soggy, add dry medium or�start a new one if the worms have started dying. � Use clear/�see-through containers so that you can easily check the status of your culture without having to open the lid.� � It's best to keep more that one container of�Grindal�Worms going just in case one goes bad. � � � �
