Culturing Instructions:

Paramecium are very itty bitty oval shaped and flat unicellular microorganisms belonging to the phylum Ciliophorathey are veryeasy to culture and keep. When their water conditions are right they can multiply very quickly and divide themselves in half and making smaller versions of themselves. Parameciumwill eat bacteria that normally grow in aquarium water but it's best to growthem in a separate container and use smaller containers opposed to larger vessels. It takes a relatively short time toturn a starter culture into a full working culture. You should always keep a few extra containers on hand just in case one goes bad.
Which Fish Will Eat Them :Newly bornFry like bettas, Killifish, Gouramis and other small fry that come from fish that lay eggs.
Environment: You can keepyour cultureon a shelf with the rest of your cultures. You'll need a space that doesn't get too much light in order to prevent algae overgrowth.
Temperature: Room temperature is fine.
Size: Micro. You'll need a magnifying glass and hold your culture up to a light in order to see them moving around. You'll need to look for shimmering movement. They're very tiny and very difficult to see but fry can very easily see them.
Food: There aremany things that you can feed them because Paramecium feed onbacteria from decaying organic matterbutI like to feed mine fish food flakes, but you can also add 1-2 dog food pellets to a newly started culture. I would avoid adding dog food pellets to an already established culture.
Container: Choosea 8 oz bottle, 16 oz bottle orcontainer

Medium: I like to use bottled Spring Water, but you can collect rain water or aquarium water too.

Harvesting: Use a a small dropper to collect what you will feed to your fry. Only collect paramecium that is in clear water, not cloudy water. If the water is cloudy, wait a few days for it to clear up before using.
Sub-Culturing: You'll need to sub-culture in aboutaweek.Take 1/4 of you culture and add to your new culture. It's best not to use it all at once just in case the culture crash and you need to start over again.
