Description

Fossil Substrate

Description

This is a small gravel substrate. It is comprised of lots of sandstone, quartz, agate, some river glass etc. See the dime pic for size reference. It has been cleaned for the safety of your livestock. You may find some small pebbles of hard clay as well but these are a great nutrient source for plants. Now to the best part. This Gravel has several types of fossils in it as well. IT comes from The Tallahata layer from the Eocene period. All the gravel and fossils comes from this period of history ( minus the river glass but does include the quartz). There are shark teeth, ray teeth, clam shells, scallop shells, etc and maybe even some ammonite shells. See the additional pics for examples of some of the things you will likely find in this substrate. This is a 5 lb bag of substrate.

There are a number of fossils in each bag.. It was cleaned and bagged and then seeded with extras to be sure each bag has at least a fair share of fossils. This substrate is NOT appropriate for SOFT water tanks as the fossils themselves will leach minerals over time in soft water. But these same leeching minerals are great nutrients for aquatic plants.

One last note.. this is great stuff for a kid that wants to be paleontologist. Sifting and sorting for the fossils can be a learning experience.

and always feel free to ask questions.

Shipping

I am not offering free shipping on this as the winning bidder can get as many bags as he/she wishes for the winning bid price each and i will find the cheapest shipping possible for this.. [ Likely flat rate box(es)] I can fit 10 bags in a large flat rate box individually bagged.. the same will fit into a medium flat rate box opened and bagged as one large bag- that would be 50lbs shipped for ~11 bucks! smaller quantities ( 3 bags or less, 15 pounds or less, can be shipped even cheaper using Regional boxes)

Payment

Payment made via Paypal is Preferred .
