Welcome to my fish room
Cichlids have fascinated me since I was a child; and they continue to hold that same fascination over me. I love all cichlids, but my preference is for the new world cichlids. With very few exceptions I raise all the fish I sell in my fish room. I am not a whole saler or a fish farm.
Policies and Practices
My first concern is to get the fish to you alive with as little transit trauma as possible. While I recognize that sometimes no matter what I do to ensure live arrival, sometimes DOA's occur. It is, unfortunately, bound to happen from time to time with fish. 1. Fish are packed in fresh water with a chemical to absorb ammonia and provide a protective coat. 2. I use a highly effective insulating material that allows the most retention of heat in the winter and cool in the hot summer while allowing the box to breathe. I use styro boxes very sparingly as the risks outweigh the benefits in my opinion. Styro does not breathe and heat packs in the winter cannot breathe and therefore they go inactive and the fish die. Seen it happen countless times. 3.As of now anyway, I use USPS Priority mail. I prefer to mail on Saturday, but can make some exceptions to accommodate you. 4. I do NOT guarantee live arrival. Once the fish are turned over for delivery the entire system is out of my hands. Rough handling, exposure and countless other transition issues can occur which I just can't control. I have packed the fish as I would want them packed if being sent to me. I am very careful. DOA's can be turned in for insurance through the USPS website. 5. While I appreciate knowing how the fish arrived, please do not ask me to replace or refund. I did my part, but as I said, once they leave my possession what happens from there is beyond my control. 6. I add $4 in winter to cover the cost of materials for insulation and the heat pack. A bit more if the box is a big one and more than 1 heat pack is required. It is the potential buyers obligation to read and understand what my policies and practices are prior to purchasing fish.
