Rocky Mountain Reefers

All about Us
Hi, I am Rudy and I would like to share some information about me, my partner and our company. Scot and I met while working together at an aquarium store in Denver, Colorado. Over sometime we became good friends as well as fellow hobbyist. Combined we have over 25 years experience in the aquarium hobby. We have both kept fresh and saltwater tanks in our history but for the last several years have many focused a great deal on reef aquariums. At some point we decided to start a projected aimed at cultivating corals. A project that is still in process today but has become relatively expensive. Recently we decided we needed a way to better fund our project besides our own pockets. So we decided to open our online aquarium store. For now we are only selling fish and other aquatic animals, such as corals and invertebrates, but in the future we hope to sell dry goods and foods. Scot and I are always looking for ways to help conserve our reefs and habitats throughout the world. We feel this is very important. So now our Rocky Mountain Reefers holds our values. Conservation As a way of showing our support for conservation, we donate 10 percent of every purchase to one of the conservation organizations listed. We are open to any new suggestions but will make the final decision based on our investigations. Thank You. Any Dead on delivery items must be photographed in the bag we sent them in with seal still intact, within two hours of delivery arrival Acclimation Instructions The fish you have purchased will need proper acclamation for a healthy transfer to your new aquarium and their new home. Keep in mind that because of the inability to control temperature during shipping your new aquatic creatures will need to adjust to the temperature of your aquarium. We do our best to keep your fish from over heating or freezing during the shipping process but plan on temperature not being where it should and allow for time so that you dont cause shock to your new pet while introducing him to his new home. Also keep in mind that the salinity your new pet is being shipped in will be at a lower level to help maintain the oxygen in the bag and prevent illness. This will vary slightly from 1.019-1.022. Please keep in mind that allowing your fish to adapt to the proper salinity is also very important. PH for your new pets will be between 8.2-8.4 when shipped. Because the fish can not hold very long the do release ammonia into the water. This will cause the PH to lower. Please be sure to acclimate for PH. The best way to acclamation for temperature, PH and Salinity is to set up some sort of drip system where the creature is set below the tank and water is slowly added either by cup or with a small hose attached to the tank and bucket that you can control the flow on. Place the creature in the bucket and allow water from your tank to be added slowly over 15-20 minutes. Be sure to watch your bucket as if you forget you may be surprised by an overflowed bucket or worse! However slow acclamation and introduction to the tank water will result in a better adapted new pet. Also leave the light off for a couple of days. This will allow your new creatures to learn their new environment with less stress. Remember that blue starfish and sponges do not live if they are exposed to air. They must be under water at all times. This means you must submerse the bag they came in into your tank before opening the bag.! .
