In Love with Goldies
Hi there! I'm Golden Girl (well, that's my nickname anyway ;)). I've been keeping fish for 10+ years. My first fish was a fair fish from a bowl-toss contest and I've never looked back since. Although that one didn't make it and I've proceeded to lose many more through improper care, finally I have come to the place where I am able to enjoy the hobby. My favorite breeds are Orandas, Butterflies and black Broadtail Moors. The more exotic, the better! When I see a baby goldfish, my heart just melts. I have to have it!! Maybe that is why my house is overflowing with tanks. Currently I have 3 baby butterflies from Jeff Hiller that I am raising in a 30 gallon tank in my room. They are so fun to watch grow! I also have a 90 gallon with 2 huge Orandas that I am wintering in my garage. They are red and white with the cutest faces ever. My fish dream is to get a 110 gallon tub and a couple of 40 gallon breeder tanks to raise Broadtails in... the only kind of goldie that I don't own but am in love with. I love their square tails and showy fins. They are so elegant. If I could only be a breeder... so far, I haven't had much success. Maybe this spring will be the year! Winters are long where I live, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the hobby and wanting to share my passion with others.
