Wet Elbows

Hello World!
My name is Javier. I am a writing professor, a musician, and a proud father of two fine young men, ages 10 and 11. I love to cook and read as much as I can, usually when things quiet down around the house at night. I love oceans, rivers, lakes, and all sorts of aquatic life in particular, but I'm really just a lover of nature in all of its distinct forms.

My Fish-keeping Experience
I have consistently kept fish for over fifteen years, but I've had aquariums at home on and off for over 35 years really. I started with a goldfish in a bowl like many kids. Since then, it has grown into a passion for discus breeding and a mini-fish room I built in a corner of my garage. I've also bred longfin albino bristlenose plecos and angelfish over the years. I love all sorts of cool fish. In fact, I'd like to set up a tank large enough to keep a bichir some day. I definitely suffer from multiple-tank syndrome... I'm also into plants. I've always kept plants in my tanks, but I've definitely stepped up my game in that respect over the last couple of years. As far as the types of tanks I prefer, I lean more towards biotope tanks, but I can appreciate all kinds of tank designs and layouts. Fish-keeping has definitely been an important part of my life for a long time, and it will remain that way for a long time to come. There is always something new to set up, change, or do differently!
