Rare and Exotic Fish

About Discus Origins
What started off as a hobby grew into a fish room in my house with over 20 tanks. A couple kids later and I lost my fish room and it was onto a warehouse space with room for more exotic and rare species. Discus Origins started off as a supplier of high quality wild discus and we have imported from the likes of WBSabby, H&K, and Satarem Discus for our stock. Wild discus season only lasts from August to March, so I decided to also start importing fish that I have always wanted but no one had in stock. Rare L plecos, corydoras, and south american cichlids are my other focus and we have found some quality and reliable sources from Brazil, Colombia, and Peru to fill these needs. Thank you for looking and I hope we can be your supplier of rare, hard to find species.

Our Policies
We hold every fish for a minimum of 7-10 days at our facility before we release them for sale. They are observed for any intestinal or parasitic signs while in QTs and treated accordingly. Our facility houses over are 2000 gallons of individual tanks each with sponge filters, wet/dry sump filtration and UV sterilizers. Please keep in mind that how you choose to acclimate your fish once you receive them is up to you, we recommend floating the bags for 15-20 min to equalize the temperature and then placing the fish into the tank. This method minimizes the chance of ammonia burns that sometimes occurs when dripping or adding higher ph tank water to the bag. Never allow the shipment water into your tanks if possible. If for some reason the bags have leaked due to rough shipping, place the fish in water as soon as possible to cover at least the entire body. Clean oxygenated water is more important than temperature if that is the case. Lastly and most important pertaining to wild fish - we do our best to ensure you are receiving healthy fish. The fish you are receiving have been quarantined for a total of over 14 days. But once they are in your possession they should undergo a regiment of de-worming and de-parasite process to ensure long term health. We recommend that they are dewormed and treated with metronidazole, flubendazole or levamisole, and praziquantel. Medicated flake food is also recommended if the fish are taking flakes. We guarantee that all our fish will arrive alive to you. Should you have any issues upon receiving your fish, please contact us immediately so we can remedy the situation. Any DOA claims must be made within 2 hours of delivery. We require photographic confirmation of the dead fish in bag to process any refund. It is common practice to freeze the dead fish until the resolution of any issues. We reserve the right to request photographs of the dead fish with tail removed in some situations. If you are not home to receive your shipment at the original time of delivery, we can no longer guarantee live arrival. We do our best to ship you healthy fish, using the best methods available, should unforeseen delays happen with the shipping company, or accidents, we cannot be held accountable. We will assist you with filing a claim with the carrier in those cases in anyway possible. In rare cases of DOAs we will credit you cost of the livestock towards next purchase only and not the shipping expense. If you choose to come to our facility and hand-pick your fish, they are your responsibility the moment they leave our facility; there is no guarantee beyond this point. All of our fish are not fed for up to 48 hours prior to shipping. We use pure oxygen and calming additives as we see fit, and heat packs as appropriate per weather forecast. We take Paypal and MC/Visa/Discover. Paypal address is discus.origins@yahoo.com and credit card processing is taken by phone at (352)694-2222 during warehouse hours of Tues-Sat 10am-6pm. Credit card transactions will have a 3% processing fee and 6% state sales tax assessed. All shipments will have a $10 packing charge added to cover cost of styrofoam box, bags, oxygen and any other supplies.
